Hyaluronic acid in the lips can deeply hydrate, define the contour or add volume: three different goals that call for different techniques and amounts. At Clínica Cambria (La Cañada, Valencia) we work in micro-doses and gradually: we'd rather do less and adjust at the follow-up than overfill. And if your lips don't need it, or you expect a change we can't achieve with a natural result, we'll tell you at the assessment.

Which one do you need?
Hydration, contouring or augmentation
Not all lips are after the same thing. These are the three ways of working with hyaluronic acid and who each one makes sense for.

What to expect day by day
Lip swelling is normal and expected, especially during the first 48 hours. This is what usually happens.
First 24 hours
- Normal swelling and sensitivity, more visible on the upper lip
- Cold compresses in short intervals if needed
- Avoid intense heat, alcohol and hard exercise
- Avoid very hot, spicy or acidic food
Days 2 to 4
- Swelling goes down progressively; small bruises may appear
- Normal life; make-up away from the injection points
- Keep lips hydrated with the recommended balm
Weeks 1 and 2
- The product finishes integrating: this is the real result
- Follow-up appointment and adjustment if needed
- Any doubts, message us: follow-up is included
Frequently Asked Questions
How much hyaluronic acid do lips need?+
Usually between 0.5 and 1 ml, depending on the goal and your lips' characteristics. We always recommend a gradual approach: it's easier to add in a second session than to correct an excess.
Does it hurt?+
Discomfort is minimal. We apply a topical anaesthetic and use products with integrated lidocaine. It feels like small pinches.
How long do results last?+
Between 6 and 9 months. Lips move a lot, so the product is reabsorbed sooner than in other areas of the face.
Will people notice I've had something done?+
With the right technique and amount, the result is very natural: better lips, with your same expression. That is exactly our working standard.
What if I don't like the result?+
Hyaluronic acid is reversible: it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if necessary. That said, working in micro-doses and gradually makes it very rarely needed.
When is it not advisable?+
We don't perform it during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if there is an active infection in the area — for example a cold sore flare-up, in which case we postpone. At the assessment we review your case and medical history.
Can I eat and drink afterwards?+
Yes, although it's best to avoid very hot, spicy or acidic food for the first 24 hours, and to drink through a straw for the first few days.
How much does it cost?+
